DSL Setup’s using DHCP and Static IP
Check the settings in the Internet Options in the Control Panel, Connections and make sure it is set to never dial a connection. Make sure that there are no settings in the LAN settings marked..(Unless they are setup for the Proxy/igear). Setup Email.
Windows XP
1. Click on Start
2. Control Panel
3. On the right, “switch to classic view”
4. Network Connections
5. Right Click on Local Area Connection
6. Highlight Internet Protocol TCP/IP
7. Click on Properties
8. For SilverStar, customers (any Atcnet or Direct Communications customer with a router)
a. Make sure it is marked to Obtain an IP Address Automatically
b. Obtain DNS server Address Automatically
9. For Atcnet Customers (without router)
a. Put in the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Address
10. Click OK
11.Click Close
Windows
95, 98 and ME
1. Click on Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Networking
5. Make sure they have an Ethernet adaptor
6. Check for TCP/IP->Ethernet adaptor
7. Highlight TCP/IP->Ethernet adaptor
8. For Silverstar, customers (any Atcnet or Direct Communications customer with a router)
a. Make sure it is marked to Obtain an IP Address Automatically
b. Click the DNS Tab at the top and Disable DNS
c. Click on Wins Configuration and mark Use DHCP for Wins
For Atcnet Customers (without router)
d. Put in the IP Address, Subnet Mask
e. Click on Gateway and install the Gateway
f. Click DNS Configuration and put in the host (name of service) then enter
the DNS Addresses and click add.
g. Click Wins Configuration tab and Disable Wins
8. Click OK
9. Click OK
10. It will Reboot
You can tell the customer that we do not support
routers.
We do not setup wireless connections and wireless
security in the routers.
You can tell them for SilverStar, to follow the directions that came with the router and make sure it is set up use DHCP.
For Atcnet WE will need
to add the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS. You will also have to
setup the network (in computer) the same as for SilverStar.
For Direct Communications WE need to setup the PPPoE and then the network (in computer) is the same as for SilverStar.
